Subhash's Guide: JavaScript Status Message

When you take your mouse over a link, the status bar of the browser window displays by default the URL of the link. If you want to display customized message to your visitor when he takes his mouse over a link, a small javascript code will help.

Just add the following attributes to the link (<a>) tag:

onmouseover="window.status='Your Message!';return true;"
onmouseout="window.status='';return true;"

Example

indiWiz.com

If you take your mouse over the above link, you will see the status bar display 'Subhash'. The full code:

<a href="#1" onmouseover="window.status='Subhash';return true;" onmouseout="window.status='';return true;">indiWiz.com</a>
